Interesting perspective
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!’
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’ He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so… Love the people who treat you right. Love and pray for the ones who don’t.

What an ordeal
Thursday nite I found out I was scheduled for a trip to Laredo. So I started to prepare. I went shopping for food and came home to fix sandwiches and get my clothes ready and pull my contacts out to give my eyes a nite’s rest . Sitting at the kitchen Table, I looked behind me on the window sill and found a squeeze bottle of “Lens Cleaner”. So I filled th little storage cups with this lens cleaner, and then read the bottle of what it was. It said clearly, “Not for use with contact lenses”. So I emptied that out in the garbage and went to find some real contact lens solution. Afted filling the cups with the good stuff, I pulled the contacts from my eyes and put them in the storage cups and went to bed.
At 5:30 Friday, I put the contacts back in my eyes and went to work. By 9:00 my eyes hurt SO bad I had to pull over and take out my contacts. I called a cab to take me to the local hospital. They flushed my eyes, gave me some Vicodin and an antibiotic and discharged me. Katie convinced me that i needed to see them again and they needed to do more. I called the number they gave me for follow up and the ophthalmologist agreed. That’s when they took me in and really washed out my eyes.
After the real washout they discharged me again with instructions to see an ophthalmologist.
We made it home to Michigan around 11pm I think. we dropped off Mike and Val and Katie and I went to University of Michigan ER. Eventually they called in the ophthalmologist from home and she finally did the testing and exam I needed around 6am. Wow what an ordeal. They found a scratch, or more like a chemical burn to the cornea of my left eye. I have no idea why it was only in one eye. I treated them identically. It should heal itself in around three days.
My hand is trembling and I’m crying as I read this
Good bye sir. The world is a sadder place to live now.

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the SERENITY to
Accept the things I cannot change;
COURAGE to change the things I can;
And WISDOM to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it:
Trusting that He will make all things
Right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
